Action You Can See.
Results You Can Trust.

Together, we can shape the future of Ward 9.

My Priorities for Ward 9

Real issues. Real plans. Real action.

There’s a lot to do and with your support on October 26, we’ll move Ward 9 forward together. I’m excited for the opportunity to lead with action, accountability, and a commitment to building a stronger community we can all be proud of.

SAFER COMMUNITIES & CRIME PREVENTION

Safer Communities Start with Action

Safety is about how people feel
in their everyday lives.

From school zones to neighbourhood issues like car theft and property crime. We need smart, targeted action.

SMARTER GROWTH &
AFFORDABILITY

Growth should strengthen our community, not strain it.

Your neighbourhood voice matters and I’ll make sure it helps shape every decision.

RESPECT FOR YOUR TAX DOLLARS

You deserve transparency, accountability, and results.

I will be your voice at City Hall-focused on smart spending and ensuring your money is working for you.

Accountability isn’t optional -it’s expected.

PROTECTING NATURE & BUILDING RESILIENCE

Protecting our green spaces starts at the local level.

From parks and trails to natural habitats, these spaces support families, wildlife, and community well-being.

We must maintain them and adapt as our climate changes.

Meet Anwar Knight

I’ve proudly called Mississauga home my entire life. It’s where my wife and I are raising our two boys, my greatest accomplishment in life and where we’ve built our lives and invested deeply in the community we love.

For nearly two decades, many people welcomed me into their homes as an award-winning broadcaster with CTV News Toronto. Together, while I delivered your weather forecast, we also shared some special  television adventures. Over the years, I broadcast live from more than 1,000 locations across the GTA, celebrating the people, places, and hidden gems that make every community unique.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, some of my most meaningful work came from showcasing local parks, trails, and green spaces on live television giving viewers a much-needed opportunity to focus on something positive during an incredibly difficult time.

Beyond the cameras and live reports, I’ve always been committed to community and helping shine a light on important issues, supporting families and seniors, and standing up for people who too often feel unheard

That commitment has led me to support organizations including Eden Food for Change, The Mississauga Food Bank, Peel Crime Stoppers, Credit Valley Conservation Foundation, Regeneration Outreach, and Lymphoma Canada, where I served as a board director. My passion for protecting our environment was also recognized with Credit Valley Conservation’s Environmental Awareness Award.

Some of the most important work I’ve done began as a father.

After experiencing firsthand the challenges many families were facing in Peel schools, I knew I could no longer stay silent. The unreported violence and disregard for parents concerns led me to found the Hold Schools Accountable Parent Network to advocate for safer schools, greater transparency, and meaningful change for students and parents all across Ontario. Thousands of families have now joined me and signed my petition to amend the Education Act.

That advocacy has taken me to Queen’s Park, Peel Regional Council, and meetings with the Premier and Minister of Education with one clear priority: every child deserves to be safe at school, and every parent deserves answers.

As a cancer survivor, I understand firsthand the importance of resilience, compassion, and community support. That journey shaped the kind of leadership I believe in, leadership that listens, brings people together, and most importantly turns concerns into meaningful action.

Ward 9 is a community built on connection from family neighbourhoods and local businesses to gathering places like the Meadowvale Community Centre and the natural beauty of Lake Aquitaine. I’m ready to get to work for you and your family with action you can see and results you can trust.
